The Green Party will not be intimidated by anti-democratic vandals who threw a brick through the window of the Green Party office in Auckland overnight. “The Green Party will continue to stand up for free and fair elections in spite of this campaign of intimidation being run by some opponents of the Electoral Finance Act,” says Dr. Russel Norman, Green Party Co-leader and Electoral Matters Spokesperson. “The Greens have a proud tradition of defending the human and democratic rights of New Zealanders and others around the world. “We will continue to defend the right of ordinary New Zealanders to control their government rather than hand control over to wealthy vested interests funding political parties. That’s why we supported a spending cap on election campaigns and that is why we are being attacked. “Those who attack the offices of democratically elected officials in an attempt to intimidate them are attacking democracy itself.” |
