As part of an ongoing wetland restoration project, the trees went a long way towards providing a natural habitat for native bird species. Two acres of former paddock will soon be transformed into lush native forest. A further five acres will be planted with the help of Green volunteers...... Lillian Fougere enjoying the fresh aire!
Once at Glenbrook , the volunteers were unstoppable. The team were: Antonio, Alan Mitchel, Christine Donovan, Claire Gibb, Emily Donovan, Fiona Gibb, Heather Gibb, James Gibb, Lillian Fougere, Matthew Goode, Mel Abbott, Michael, Michelle Donovan, Rick Leckinger, Rob Stafford, Roger Donovan, Shane Windsor, Stuart Donovan. Holes were dug and trees were planted with furious energy. By the end of the day, an entire hillside had been populated with budding native trees, such as manuka, karo, and coprosma. These trees will form the cover under which larger and more permanent species will be able to establish themselves.

Sunny skies welcomed the Greens to Glenbrook to help both the environment and the provincial bank balance. The Donovan family made a substantial donation to the Auckland Province in exchange for Green volunteers who planted 600 native trees.
